'The art of documentary photography' is a workshop based on the meaning of documentary and what makes a documentary photograph into an historical and story-telling document.


The workshop looks at the variety and approach of the documentary image, along with narrative and sequence production.


Developing a theme will be discussed, identifying the concept of making the images powerful and creating meaning which will strengthen through time.

General information

.'The art of documentary photography' is conducted in an informal atmosphere. Situated in the digital darkroom, gallery and on location at photoworkshopwales, Ystradgynlais, Powys.
.The course begins at 10.00am and finishes approx. 4.30pm.
.Refreshments and packed/buffet lunch is provided.
.Transport to location shoots during the course.

What should I bring?
Camera, spare batteries, memory card, lenses, tripod, memory stick or external hard drive, camera cables, warm waterproof clothing, suitable footwear, change of clothing and footwear. (we do have some tripods that can be used)
What level of photography is the course aimed?
'The art of documentary photography' is based on participants of all photographic levels.
What is not included in the price?
Transport to and from photoworkshopwales. Overnight accommodation.
It is strongly recommended that you take personal holiday insurance and camera insurance.
